Acceptance – the key to true happiness
Acceptance is one of the key elements in achieving “true” happiness and peace of mind. Acceptance means; being fully able to experience and embrace the spontaneity of a moment that is not sought after or anticipated. Accepting any situation or habit means releasing all the resistance, judgments and criticism about it. It involves shifting your focus from pain to questions such as ‘what is there to learn and grow from this situation?’ ‘How this can help me in becoming more aware about me?’ Accepting somebody or a situation means releasing resistance and being non-judgmental about the person or the situation. It involves a shift from the negativity about a person or a situation and appreciating the positive in any given situation.

Denial, refusing to acknowledge, running away from problems and truth, offering resistance to change, all creates a friction within us and leads to a buildup of negative energies within an individual. This leads to instilling negativity in the thought process which in turn results in negative actions and finally to negative results and output. Whereas acceptance results in more understanding and awareness of ourselves and others leading to positive results, happiness and peace of mind. The quality of our thoughts, feelings, emotions and behavior towards others largely depends on the relationship we have with ourselves. The more we know and accept all aspect of ourselves, including our positive and negative, the more unconditional love we can have towards ourselves and others This brings us to the idea of self- acceptance, which simply means to detach ourselves from the continuing process of comparing us with people around us leading to feeling of guilt and insecurity. The root causes of all the ills that we face are as a result of the shallow process of judging ourselves against the rules set by others around us without gaining a deeper understanding of life and events. Often people are driven by a constant desire to change without accepting the present leading constant feeling of dissatisfaction and not being fulfilled. This keeps many of us in an unhealthy rat race, of unfair comparisons and in a constant chase to achieve unattainable targets and goals. It is very important to get into the process of self -acceptance and self -appreciation, which will take us to accepting and appreciating everything around us, which will lead us all to a state of eternal bliss and deeply fulfilled lives.
