She is shown seated on a lotus, with gold coins flowing from her hand, & the bead carries her grace of abundance, stability & quiet contentment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Puranas tell that when the devas & asuras churned the ocean of milk in the Samudra Manthan, Goddess Lakshmi rose from the waters seated on a lotus, & chose Lord Vishnu as her eternal consort. Wherever she stays, prosperity & order stay with her; wherever she leaves, fortune follows her out. This is why devotees seek her blessings not only for wealth, but for a home & a life that stay steady.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The shastras give the bead two more names. The Shiva Purana & the Srimad Devi Bhagavatam call the seven-faced Rudraksha Ananga<\/strong>, “the bodiless one”, a name of Kamadeva after Lord Shiva’s third eye turned his body to ash. The Rudrakshajabala Upanishad names the Saptamatrikas<\/strong>, the seven divine mothers (Brahmani, Maheshwari, Kaumari, Vaishnavi, Varahi, Indrani & Chamunda), as its presiding deities. According to the Shiva Purana, Lord Shiva tells Maa Parvati that the seven-faced bead is known by the name Ananga. By wearing it, even one who is poor becomes a person of prosperity & standing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Srimad Devi Bhagavatam also speaks of this bead:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“The seven faced Rudraksha is named Ananga. Holding this frees one from the sin of stealing gold, etc.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
