Vasant or Basant Panchami is also known as Shree Panchami or Saraswati Panchami., dedicated to Devi Saraswati. Vasant means spring in Sanskrit, as this festival marks the beginning of the spring season. It is celebrated on the 5th day of Shukla Paksha in the month of Maagh (January / February). This day is also known as Saraswati is the Source of all learning. She is the Goddess of speech, Learning, Knowledge and wisdom. She is the union of power and intelligence from which the entire creation arises. She is the Goddess of the Vedas, scriptures, dancing, music and poetry.
School going children can chant ॐ ऎं सरस्वत्यै नमः (Om Aim Saraswatyai Namah), for excellence in academics and performing arts. She confers reasoning and discriminatory faculties to her devotees. Goddess Saraswati should be worshipped across all ages as knowledge and learning is required throughout the life. Therefore this Puja equally beneficial not only for students, but is also for businessmen, politicians, industrialists and researchers because all the above factors are beneficial to them.
Puja Description: Swasti Vaachan, Shanti Path, Sankalp, Ganesh Sthapan, Kalash Sthapan, Saraswati Sthapan, Saraswati Mantra Japa, Neel Saraswati stotra Paath and Aarti.
Prasad: Saraswati Bandh and Sindoor
'Pradosh' means 'belonging or relating to the evening' or 'first part of the night’. Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati are worshipped on this day. On this auspicious day, the devotees observe fast and they perform special rituals for Shiva and Parvati during the twilight. Fasting on this day provides health benefits and all the wishes of the seeker are likely to be fulfilled.
Puja Description: Ganesh Sthapan, Punyavachan, Swastivachan, Rudrabhishek, Bilwarchan with Ashtottar Shat Namavali, Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra Japa and Pushpanjali.
Prasad: The Yajman will receive a Rudraksha Japmala and Silver Bel Patra.
Maha Sudarshan Homam is performed for protection against all kinds of harms including enemies, evil Eye & Adversaries. Lord Vishnu is known as Lord Sudarshan as his weapon is Sudarshan Chakra. It is the main weapon of Lord Vishnu to remove and punish evil. It is said that Sudarshan Chakra is created from pure flames of Sun and hence the Sudarshan Puja keeps all Negativity, Illness, Misfortune, Miseries at bay. According to the Vedas, the Sudarshan Chakra is also a manifestation of Lord Vishnu's spiritual power and it acts in different capacities according to Lord's desire. Generally, the Sudarshan Chakra appears as a razor sharp edged discus like weapon of Lord Vishnu which have intolerable heat that can destroy anything in the universe. However, it can also uplift the consciousness of the living beings if the Lord decides to do so. Hence, by performing a Sudarshan Homam, one can get Protection from Enemies, Negativities and Evil Spirits.
