Ramayana is also known as Shri Ramcharitmanas written by Goswami Tulsidas. Tulsidas is considered to be a reincarnation of Rishi Valmiki the composer of the original Ramayan in Sanskrit. Ramcharitmanas depicts the life of Shri Ram. Lord Ram, an incarnation of Shri Vishnu is also known as Maryada Purushottam, meaning peerless among men in propriety of conduct. Lord Rama is extolled as the embodiment of truth, morality, virtue, an ideal son, an ideal husband and overall an ideal King. Ramcharitmanas is divided into seven chapters viz, the Baal Kaand, Ayodhya Kaand, Aranya Kaand, Kishkhindha Kaand, Sunder Kaand, Lanka Kaand and the Uttar Kaand.

As per Shastras, a mere recitation of Ramayana is considered to be auspicious. It is believed that the benefits of reciting Ramayan multiplies its auspicious effects if it is recited continuously from beginning to end without any breaks This takes around 24 hours.
