Among the various types of Devi Mahalakshmi, this puja invokes the blessings of Devi Aarogya Lakshmi for Health, and Devi Mahalakshmi for Wealth, alongwith Dhanvantri - the god of medicine and health. He is regarded as an avatar of Vishnu. He is mentioned in the Puranas as the god of Ayurveda. It’s said that the biggest wealth one can have is the treasure of good health.
In our scriptures it is said that Dhanteras is the time when the planets Jupiter(Guru) & Shukra(Venus) change positions(Retrogade), and is a very auspicious time to conduct this puja.
