As a result of a curse from Sage Durvasa, Goddess Lakshmi left him, causing his glory to wane. She then graced the realms of Naaglok and the lower world of the Asuras, particularly blessing the righteous king of Asuras, Bali.

During the quest for Amrut, the elixir of immortality, the cosmic ocean was churned. As the churning commenced, both Devas and Asuras witnessed the divine emergence of Goddess Lakshmi from the milky ocean. She promptly chose Lord Vishnu as her eternal consort and accompanied Him to Vaikuntha. In Vaikuntha, she adorned herself with opulence and sat beside her husband on the mighty Ananta Naag, displaying her stable and benevolent form.

According to the Shrimad Devi Bhagwatam, Devi Yognidra plays a pivotal role in the divine drama. She casts a deep slumber upon Lord Vishnu, from which two formidable Asuras, Madhu and Kaitabha, emerge. These malevolent beings proceed to challenge and overpower Lord Brahma, prompting Brahma to invoke Lord Vishnu for assistance.

However, Lord Vishnu remains in a profound slumber, unresponsive to Brahma’s plea. In this dire moment, Brahma seeks the aid of Goddess Mahamaya, who is none other than Devi Yognidra herself. With her divine intervention, Devi Yognidra awakens Lord Vishnu from his slumber, enabling Him to engage in a fierce battle against Madhu and Kaitabha, ultimately vanquishing them. This story underscores Lord Vishnu’s protective power and his ability to conquer evil forces with the divine assistance of Devi Yognidra.
